Your conservatory should be an area of the home which you can enjoy all year round, not just in the warmer months however they can sometime become very chilly in the winter months. The obvious reason for this is that heat is lost through the glass in the conservatory as the glass is not nearly as good as retaining heat as the brick walls of a home.
Is your conservatory draughty?
Although glazing is going to be the area were most heat is lost draft can make a noticeable difference. To avoid this make sure the door is fully air tight so that cold air can’t enter. Another way you can retain heat is to have blinds on all of the windows. Blinds will allow you to have light come in during the day and warm up the conservatory and then as soon as the sun goes down you can shut the blinds and retain the heat.
Most will find it harder to retain heat in an older conservatory as in many cases they will have just single glazed windows which let heat out very quickly. If you would like your conservatory to be more efficient in the winter months we can help by installing double or even triple glazed windows which will make a huge difference to heat loss and help you to enjoy your conservatory all year round.
